Hey jaimeemaree here from thefitnessentourage.com and in today’s video I’m going to show you how to build your own website in 7 easy steps. You and I both know, if you really want to grow your fitness business you have to have a website and a blog. There’s no doubt about it. If you don’t have one, no one can find you online, and that’s the first place people will look to find out more about you. It helps you to build up your credibility and it helps you to showcase your expertise. A blog allows you to build relationships with your audience and to keep the conversation going.

It wasn’t that long ago that creating your own website or blog was completely out of the question. That was left for people who loved IT and understood all the complicated tech language that went with building a website. But now, anyone can do it and it’s really not that hard if you know what to do. If I can do it, I guarantee you can do it.

I’m going to show you in 7 steps how you can get a website and blog up and running within hours. Technically you can do it in around 30 minutes, but I’ll give you a little bit of extra time because you’re a newbie. Now, when building a website I highly recommend you use a platform called WordPress. It is an amazing content management system that you can use to create any type of website or blog you want and it can be as basic or as complex as you like. WordPress allows you to edit everything yourself and it’s almost as easy as editing a Microsoft Word document. If you know how to do that, then you can quite literally build your own website using WordPress.

Let me show you how to do it.

So step number 1.

1. Register your hosting and domain

Your domain could be something like – yourname.com or yourbusinessname.com. For example, our website domain is thefitnessentourage.com.

Your website hosting is a service that is provided to store and publish all of the content for your website. So, to get started, you simply need a domain and hosting account. There are hundreds of providers all over the internet, so just do a bit of research and choose one that suits your location and your budget. If you’re in Australia, then I highly recommend Ventraip. They are a great company and I use them to host all of my sites and recommend them to clients as well.

Step number 2.

2. Install WordPress

So, once you’ve got a domain and hosting account it’s time to install wordpress. You can either do this the manual way or you can install it automatically within your hosting account, which is the way I always like to do it with my website and the websites of my clients. You just have to make sure that your hosting account allows you to use WordPress and you’re good to go.

Moving onto step number 3.

3. Login to your new wordpress website

Next up, once wordpress is installed, all you have to do is login to your account using the username and password you set up and you’ll be able to see the wordpress dashboard where you control your entire website.

Now step number 4.

4. Choose the design you want to use.

After you’ve installed wordpress you should be able to see your website and yourdomainname.com and they will have automatically installed a default theme for you. You can either choose to use this, OR you can install your own theme. There are hundreds, if not thousands of free themes for you to choose from, or you can visit sites like themeforest.net and search for website themes there and purchase them for a really low cost.

Step number 5.

5. Create Pages for your website

So, let’s assume you’ve chosen a free theme in step number 5, it’s time to create a page for your website. This is so incredibly easy. You simply log into your website, hit add new page on the left hand side and you’ve quite literally just created a new page for your site.

Step number 6.

6. Add Content

Now you’ve created a new page for your website, it’s time to start adding content to your website. You can add text and images as if you were creating a microsoft word document. You’ll see up the top here there’s a tool bar where you can bold text, italicise text and you can add in images here as well.

Last but not least Step number 7.

7. Configure Settings and Publish Content

All you have to do is Configure some basic settings and Publish your content. You simply have to tell the website which page you want shown as the home page of your website. You can easily do this in the settings tab inside your website within seconds. Then once you publish your content – you’re ready to go and you’ve officially created your own website.

It really is that simple to build your own wordpress website so don’t put it off any longer.
